Section 5-61 Qualifying of applicants.



Prior to the adoption of 5-61 on 07/12/2004, Section 5-61 read as follows.

    (a)    The contractors examining board shall require a written examination of the applicant to  show his degree of knowledge of the type of construction for which the applicant desires to be licensed as a contractor in the city except as provided in sections 5-56, 5-58 and 5-59.

    (b)    Written examinations will be given  at a time and place to be determined by the board.

    (c)    The secretary of the contractors  examining board shall issue a contractor's license when it is found that the applicant, or, if the applicant is a firm, then the qualifying representative, has made a passing grade of seventy (70) percent on the written examination and satisfied all the requirements of section 5-60.

    (d)    Contractors' licenses shall be  renewed annually by the secretary of the board at a cost of  ten dollars ($10.00) to maintenance and repair contractors and forty-five dollars ($45.00) to all other contractors, such funds to be paid into the city treasury. Such fees shall be paid on or before the anniversary date of the license. Licenses not renewed on or before the anniversary date shall be null and void. If a contractor's license becomes invalid due to failure of renewal or other reasons,  such contractor may have his license renewed by the contractors examining board.

    (e)    Prior to the board renewing a license which has been expired for more than two (2) years, the applicant shall comply with the requirements of section 5-60 and section 5-61.
