Applications for posted positions are accepted daily in the Human Resources Department on the second floor of the City of Thomasville Administration Building, located at 111 Victoria Place from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.  Applicants should take appropriate measures to ensure that completed applications for advertised vacancies are received in this office by 4:30 p.m. on the published closing date.

POLICE OFFICER

The City of Thomasville is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officers through October 31st.  Georgia certification is preferred, though not required.  Applicants must be at least 21, possess a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license and able to pass a criminal background and physical fitness assessment test to apply. 

This position will perform traditional duties, including, patrolling specific districts by foot or automobile, handling public complaints, arresting violators of the law, responding to accidents, issuing the necessary summons or tickets when appropriate, preparing/compiling reports and maintaining police records.  Additionally, Thomasville Police Officers are required to participate in Community Oriented Policing programs that will require extensive interaction with the community.

Excellent benefits! Starting pay, for uncertified Police Officer, is $24,635 and GA Certified Police Officers w/no experience is $28K+. Additional pay increases are given for experience, education and special assignments.
