The legislative authority of the government of the City of Thomasville is vested in the Council, which is composed of five (5) members. The members of the Council serve for terms of four (4) years and until their respective successors are elected and qualified. Two (2) members are elected from and by the voters of Council District No. 1, two (2) members are elected from and by the voters of Council District No. 2, and one (1) member is elected from and by the voters of the City at large.
The Council meets in regular session on the second and fourth Monday of each month. Meetings are held in Council Chambers at City Hall, 144 East Jackson Street, and begin at 7:00 p.m. You may review the agenda to find out the issues the Council will address.
Steve Sykes is the City Manager for the City of Thomasville. He is responsible to the City Council for the administration of all city affairs placed in his charge by or under the city charter. As a part of his duties, he sees that all laws and ordinances of the city are enforced and supervises and directs all city officers and employees. He can be reached by telephone at (229) 227-6987.
